Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship roofing sheets from China to Nigeria?

Roofing sheets go by sea in a full container, door to door with clearance and duties included. Sheets up to 5.8 m go in a 20 ft or 40 ft container, longer sheets in a 40 ft container, loaded by number of bundles and weight.

  • Formed sheets take up volume; the load of flat sheet and formed sheet differs a lot.
  • Stone-coated tiles (stone-coated metal roof tiles) are palletised by the piece; give both weight and volume.
  • Matching ridges, screws and seals can ship in the same container.

  • Door-to-door shipping to Nigeria

Shipping, customs, duties and delivery in Nigeria, in one price.

  • Nigeria import documents

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

Stacked too high and the profile collapses

Formed sheets stacked too high or without timber battens get flattened at the bottom and can't be installed on arrival.

  2. Item 02

    Accessories left off the list

If ridges, flashings, screws and other accessories aren't on the packing list, inspection treats them as undeclared goods.

  3. Item 03

    Coils not secured

Coils that roll in rough seas damage the container walls and other cargo. They must be fixed in the container with steel cradles or wooden wedges.

  4. Item 04

    Packing not damp-proof

Once the coated edges get damp they blister and rust, and the goods can't be sold at full price on arrival. Use waterproof outer packing with moisture-proof paper inside.

Shipping roofing sheets to Nigeria: FAQ

Do stone-coated tiles count as roofing sheets?

Yes. Stone-coated tiles are metal roof tiles with a stone chip surface. They are declared as roofing sheets and palletised by the piece for loading.

Can roofing sheets be made to the length I need before shipping?

Yes. The cut length decides the container type, so send us your length list first and we choose a 20 ft or 40 ft container accordingly.

Should I ship finished roofing sheets or coil?

It depends on whether the buyer has a roll-forming machine locally. Coil loads more compactly; finished sheets save local processing but take up more volume. Send us the quantity and specification and we'll work out the door-to-door price both ways.

Not sure which documents you need? See the clearance document checklist or send us your product names.
