Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship hardware fittings from China to Nigeria?

Hardware fittings go by sea in a shared or full container, door to door with clearance and duties included. Several suppliers deliver to the nearest warehouse, and product names and quantities are listed separately by category.

  • Hardware is small and heavy, so in a shared container it is charged on weight or volume, whichever is greater.
  • Locks, hinges, screws and tools have different HS codes; list each on the packing list.
  • Pack small items in cartons on pallets so cartons don't come loose.

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Product name just says "hardware"

A vague declaration triggers requests for itemised details and delays release. List locks, hinges, screws and so on one by one.

  2. Item 02

    Cartons not strong enough

Hardware is heavy and ordinary cartons get crushed when stacked. Use heavy-duty cartons and palletise.

  3. Item 03

    Inconsistent product names across suppliers

The same item gets different names on different suppliers' documents. If they don't match the packing list at clearance, the goods get inspected. We check everything against one set of names when it arrives at the warehouse.

Customer stories

  • Local buyerBuilding materials wholesaler, Lagos

One price to my door, no trips to the port

    Mr. OkaforWholesale business owner
“Before, when goods reached the port I had to find an agent and run the clearance myself, and the costs were never clear. Now one price covers everything and the goods arrive at my warehouse door. I just focus on selling.”
  • Local wholesalerHardware wholesaler, Oshodi, Lagos

Goods from several suppliers, consolidated into one shipment to Lagos

    Mr. IbrahimHardware wholesaler
“What I care about most is whether each supplier's goods have arrived. Every batch comes with photos and a carton count. The hinge batch was 30 cartons short — it was caught and made up before shipping, not discovered after arriving in Lagos.”

Shipping hardware fittings to Nigeria: FAQ

Can dozens of hardware items ship together?

Yes. Once several suppliers have delivered to the warehouse, we count, photograph and palletise everything, and the packing list is summarised by category for the declaration.

What's the minimum for hardware in a shared container?

Shared containers start at 1 m³. Hardware is heavy, so the charge compares volume and weight and takes the greater.

Can hardware from several factories go in one container?

Yes. Ask each supplier to deliver to the same warehouse. After arrival we count, photograph and measure everything, then load it together.
