Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship batteries to Nigeria legally?

Batteries travel in a DG (dangerous goods) container: provide the UN38.3 test report, MSDS and transport classification report, pack, label and book under dangerous-goods rules, and declare them accurately before shipping. Door to door with duties included covers export clearance, sea freight, Nigerian clearance, duties and delivery. Book only once the documents are complete, so the shipment isn't rejected after loading.

How it works

  1. Send the models and battery documents

    Quote within 30 minutes

We need the product model, battery type (lithium or lead-acid), capacity (Wh or mAh), quantity, and the UN38.3, MSDS and transport classification reports.

  2. Document check and hazard class

For every shipment we check that the models in the reports match the models shipped and that documents are still valid; anything missing is completed before booking.

  3. Packing, labelling and booking

Goods are packed and labelled under dangerous-goods rules, DG space is booked, and loading and export clearance are arranged.

  4. Nigerian clearance and duties

Our own Lagos team clears the goods and pays duty and VAT, with an update at each step.

  5. Delivery to your door

After release, local delivery to the receiver's address, with proof of delivery sent back.

Battery shipping: FAQ

Can batteries be shipped as general cargo?

No. Declaring batteries as general cargo is misdeclaration; if it is found, the goods are returned and fined. Providing the documents and booking as dangerous goods is what makes batteries arrive reliably.

What if I don't have a UN38.3 report?

Ask the factory first. If they don't have one, testing and the report can be ordered as a separate service, and we book once the documents are complete.

Can power banks and portable power stations ship together?

Yes. Both are declared as lithium battery goods, with the packing list itemising them by model and capacity.
