Import requirements in Senegal
Rules change. We check each product by name and HS code before shipping.
- Item 01
Prior import declaration (DPI)
For imports with a FOB value of 500,000 CFA francs or more, and for full containers, the importer must file a prior import declaration (DPI) through ORBUS before shipment.
- Item 02
Cargo tracking note (BESC)
Sea cargo to Senegal needs a cargo tracking note (BESC), managed by the Conseil Sénégalais des Chargeurs (COSEC) and validated before the vessel arrives; anything that does not match the bill of lading is rejected.
- Item 03
ORBUS and GAINDE declarations
ORBUS is Senegal's foreign trade single window. It handles the permits and certificates needed for import and connects to the customs GAINDE declaration system, so clearance documents move online.
