How do I ship plywood from China to Nigeria?
Plywood goes by sea in a full container, door to door with clearance and duties included. It is packed by pallet against damp, and the container is planned by whichever limit, weight or volume, is reached first.
- Declare construction formwork (film-faced board) and furniture plywood separately.
- Write the face veneer species into the product name; it affects classification.
- Plywood is processed wood and generally doesn't need fumigation itself; solid-wood pallets must be heat-treated.

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Plywood subheadings are split by face veneer species. Writing only "ply" leads to requests for more information.
- Item 02
Damp causing delamination
Prolonged damp makes the glue fail and the layers separate. Stretch-wrap whole pallets and add desiccant.

Damp in the container
Panels that absorb moisture swell and crack. Use waterproof film as outer packing and put desiccant in the container.

Solid-wood pallets without the IPPC mark
Untreated or unmarked wood packaging may have to be treated or be refused at the destination port. Use fumigation-free pallets or marked fumigated pallets.

Does plywood need fumigation for export?
Plywood is processed wood and generally doesn't need fumigation. If you use solid-wood pallets, the pallets must be heat-treated under ISPM 15.
How is film-faced construction formwork declared?
Film-faced formwork is classified under 4412. State the film facing, thickness and number of plies in the product name.
How many sheets of plywood fit in a container?
It depends on thickness and density, and it usually reaches the weight limit first. Send us the thickness and number of sheets and we calculate it against the container's weight limit.
