Declaring mixed multi-category cargo: list description, quantity and value item by item
For consolidated or mixed small-commodity exports: how to prepare the declaration list, handle sensitive goods, and the common declaration errors.

Mixed cargo must list each product's description, HS code, quantity, weight and value item by item; it can't be summed up as "general goods". Sensitive goods must be marked separately, and the same item must be described the same way on the invoice, packing list and declaration.

Preparing the declaration list
- Group by product type: goods under the same HS code go on one line.
- Each line states: Chinese and English description, material, use, quantity, unit, gross weight, net weight, unit price, total.
- List sensitive goods (battery-powered, liquids, powders, magnetic items, branded goods) separately with a note.
- Check the totals: total pieces, weight and value match the packing list.
Common errors
- Vague descriptions such as "general goods", "parts" or "daily necessities".
- The same item called one thing on the invoice and another on the packing list.
- Weight that doesn't match the description, e.g. textiles declared but clearly too heavy.
- Battery-powered products or branded goods left out.
When receiving from several suppliers, have the warehouse make a list by description, pieces and weight at check-in, and declare from that list. It's more accurate than piecing together each supplier's delivery note.
