Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship solar energy storage systems from China to Nigeria?

Solar storage systems go by sea, door to door with clearance and duties included. Provide UN38.3 and MSDS for the batteries; space is booked as goods containing batteries, and the whole system can share one container.

  • Batteries, inverters and panels are listed separately on the packing list.
  • Battery capacity (Wh) and quantity are required for booking.
  • Large storage cabinets get a loading plan based on each unit's size and weight.

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Incomplete battery documents

Without UN38.3 or MSDS, goods with batteries can't be booked. Have the documents ready before shipping.

  2. Item 02

The whole system declared as one item

Batteries, inverters and panels have different HS codes; a single name for the whole system will have to be split at clearance.

  3. Item 03

    Panels laid flat and stacked

Panels laid flat develop micro-cracks. You can't see them, but power output drops. They must stand upright on pallets.

  4. Item 04

Storage batteries declared as general cargo

Lithium batteries declared as general cargo and found at inspection are sent back and fined. Declare them truthfully as goods containing batteries.
