Shipping power banks to Nigeria

A power bank is itself a lithium battery. It ships as goods containing batteries, not as an ordinary phone accessory.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Capacity overstated

If the capacity printed on the casing differs from the real one, it won't match the UN38.3 report and the booking is refused.

  2. Item 02

    Mixed in with general cargo

Hiding power banks in general cargo is misdeclaration and very high risk. They must be declared separately and truthfully.

  3. Item 03

    Declared as general cargo

Products with batteries misdeclared as general cargo are sent back, fined and held at port once inspected. That costs far more than declaring them properly.

  4. Item 04

    Report doesn't match the goods

The model and capacity on the UN38.3 report must match the batteries actually shipped. Change the cells and they need testing again.

Shipping power banks to Nigeria: FAQ

Can power banks fly to Nigeria?

Power banks are lithium batteries with strict air restrictions, so we usually recommend our battery container by sea.

Do power banks need SONCAP for Nigeria?

It depends on the HS code. We check before booking and can arrange it if needed.

Can I ship without a UN38.3 report?

No. UN38.3 and MSDS are the basic documents for shipping lithium batteries. Have the batteries tested by a qualified lab first, then book once you have the report.

Not sure which documents you need? See the clearance document checklist or send us your product names.
