Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship portable power stations from China to Nigeria?

Portable power stations go by sea in our battery container, door to door with clearance and duties included. Provide UN38.3 and MSDS and declare by capacity (Wh) and unit count.

  • They have large capacities; confirm the Wh before booking.
  • Matching solar panels can share the container, listed separately.
  • Pack each unit to absorb shocks so the battery isn't knocked.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Declared as an ordinary appliance

A portable power station is essentially a lithium battery; declaring it as an ordinary appliance creates booking and clearance risks.

  2. Item 02

    No MSDS

Without an MSDS it can't be booked as goods containing batteries. Ask the factory for one before shipping.

  3. Item 03

    Declared as general cargo

Products with batteries misdeclared as general cargo are sent back, fined and held at port once inspected. That costs far more than declaring them properly.

  4. Item 04

    Report doesn't match the goods

The model and capacity on the UN38.3 report must match the batteries actually shipped. Change the cells and they need testing again.

Shipping portable power stations to Nigeria: FAQ

Do portable power stations ship the same way as power banks?

Both are handled as lithium-battery goods. Power stations have larger capacity and different unit weights and packing, so we check by model before booking.

Can portable power stations go in a shared container?

Yes, as goods containing batteries; for large volumes, a full battery container is better value.

Can I ship without a UN38.3 report?

No. UN38.3 and MSDS are the basic documents for shipping lithium batteries. Have the batteries tested by a qualified lab first, then book once you have the report.

Not sure which documents you need? See the clearance document checklist or send us your product names.
