Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship wires and cables from China to Nigeria?

Wires and cables go by sea in a full container, door to door with clearance and duties included. Drums are secured upright or on their side and planned by weight; describe the conductor, cross-section and voltage rating.

  • Copper cable is heavy and often reaches the weight limit first; aluminium cable is lighter.
  • Drums are wedged with timber so they can't roll.
  • Wires and cables are within SONCAP scope; we check before booking.

  • Door-to-door shipping to Nigeria

Shipping, customs, duties and delivery in Nigeria, in one price.

  • Nigeria import documents

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Cable drums rolling

Drums without timber wedges and lashing roll at sea and damage the container walls and the cable sheath.

  2. Item 02

    Incomplete specifications

“Some metres of cable” can't be classified. Declare conductor material, number of cores, cross-section and voltage rating.

  3. Item 03

    Cable drums not secured

A drum weighing hundreds of kilograms that rolls in the container damages the walls and the other cargo.

  4. Item 04

    Copper and aluminium declared together

Copper and aluminium cable differ greatly in classification and value, so declare them separately.

Shipping wires and cables to Nigeria: FAQ

What if a large cable drum won't fit through the container door?

Drums wider than the door go in an open-top or flat-rack container; we plan it by drum diameter.

Do wires and cables need SONCAP?

Wires and cables are within SONCAP scope, subject to the HS code. We check before booking and can arrange it.
