Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship mobile phones from China to Nigeria?

Phones ship by air or sea, door to door with clearance and duties included. Provide the battery's UN38.3 and MSDS, declare by model and quantity, and we recommend insuring the real value.

  • Phones have built-in lithium batteries and are booked as battery goods.
  • Declare by brand, model and IMEI count.
  • List phone cases, cables and other accessories separately.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Value under-declared

Phones are high in value; under-declared shipments are revalued at inspection and charged the difference in duty.

  2. Item 02

    Accessories mixed in with handsets

Handsets and accessories have different HS codes; declaring them together will have to be split.

  3. Item 03

    Declared as general cargo

Products with built-in batteries declared as general cargo get the whole shipment held at inspection.

  4. Item 04

    Value under-declared

Under-declaring looks like it saves duty, but inspection brings back-duty and fines, and any claim only pays out on the declared value.
