Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship construction vehicles from China to Nigeria?

Construction vehicles go by RoRo or flat-rack, door to door with clearance and duties included. SONCAP is arranged before shipping, and each unit's chassis number (VIN) is checked against the documents.

  • Vehicles that can drive aboard go by RoRo and need no container.
  • Over-height or over-width vehicles go by flat-rack or breakbulk depending on size.
  • The VIN on the documents must match the vehicle.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    VIN doesn't match the documents

If the chassis number differs from the bill of lading or invoice, clearance stops. Check each unit before shipping.

  2. Item 02

    Goods carried inside the vehicle

Undeclared goods carried inside RoRo vehicles are seized. Anything inside the vehicle must be declared truthfully.

  3. Item 03

    Attachments not declared

Buckets, breakers and spare parts that travel with the vehicle must be listed separately. Undeclared attachments may be taxed separately or held at port.

  4. Item 04

Fuel and battery not dealt with

RoRo vehicles must keep fuel within the shipping line's limit and have the battery disconnected, or loading may be refused.

Shipping construction vehicles to Nigeria: FAQ

Can used construction vehicles be shipped to Nigeria?

We can arrange it. They are declared truthfully by condition and year, and we check the document requirements before booking.

Is RoRo or flat-rack cheaper?

For vehicles that can drive aboard, RoRo is usually cheaper. Those that need dismantling or can't drive aboard go by flat-rack. We compare options by model.

Can both new and used construction vehicles be shipped?

Used vehicles have age and inspection requirements, and vehicles over the age limit cannot be imported. Send us the vehicle details and we check before shipping.

Is RoRo or flat-rack cheaper for an excavator?

It depends on the machine's size, the destination port and sailing dates. We price both options to your door and you choose.

Not sure which documents you need? See the clearance document checklist or send us your product names.
