Shipping tyres to Nigeria

Tyres are classic light, bulky cargo. Depending on how they are loaded, the same container can hold a hundred or more tyres more, or fewer.

Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I load tyres from China to Nigeria most economically?

Ship them in a full 40 ft high-cube, choose upright, stacked or laced loading by size, and calculate the load by size in advance.

  • Some car tyre sizes can be laced inside each other to raise the load.
  • Truck and construction tyres are heavy individually, so the container's weight limit is checked as well.
  • Tyres usually go loose without pallets and are handled by hand, so allow for unloading labour at the destination.
  • Tyres are usually within SONCAP scope and are checked by HS code.

  • Door-to-door shipping to Nigeria

Shipping, customs, duties and delivery in Nigeria, in one price.

  • Nigeria import documents

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

Choosing the container by tyre count

Tyres of different sizes vary greatly in volume, so estimating by count picks the wrong container. Calculate from the size list.

  2. Item 02

    Retreads declared as new

Retreaded and new tyres are classified differently. The declaration must match the goods.

  3. Item 03

    Not enough unloading labour

Loose tyres are unloaded by hand, and a high-cube takes several hours. Arrange it at the destination in advance.

Shipping tyres to Nigeria: FAQ

How many tyres fit in a 40 ft high-cube?

It depends on size and loading method; car and truck tyres differ several times over. Send the size list and we calculate by loading method.

Can tyres go in a shared container?

Yes, charged on volume or weight, whichever is greater. For large quantities a full container works out cheaper.
