Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship machinery from China to Nigeria?

Machinery goes by sea, door to door with clearance and duties included: standard sizes in standard containers, over-height or over-width in open-top or flat-rack containers, and very large pieces by breakbulk.

  • The length, width, height and weight of each piece decide the container, so they are needed for a quote.
  • A whole production line is declared machine by machine from the equipment list.
  • Any oils, fluids and batteries in the equipment must be stated.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Equipment not secured

Heavy equipment not fixed with steel wire and timber inside the container shifts as the ship rolls, damaging both the machine and the container.

  2. Item 02

A whole line declared under one name

Each machine on a line has its own HS code. Declare them under one name and you will be asked to split them.

  3. Item 03

Estimating size from the model number

The same model in a different configuration can be a different size. Quote the actual packed dimensions, or you only find out it doesn't fit when loading.

  4. Item 04

    Oils and fluids not drained

Equipment holding engine oil or coolant may be treated as dangerous goods. Drain it before shipping or declare it truthfully.

Shipping machinery to Nigeria: FAQ

Can used machinery be shipped to Nigeria?

We can arrange it. It is declared truthfully from the equipment list and its condition, and we check the document requirements before booking.

What if a machine is too tall for a container?

Over-height goes in an open-top container, over-width in a flat-rack, and anything too large overall by breakbulk. We plan it from the dimensions.

Can machinery go in a shared container?

Machines that fit in a standard container and are moderate in weight can share a container, charged on volume or weight, whichever is greater.
