Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship large appliances from China to Nigeria?

Large appliances ship by sea in a 40 ft high-cube, door to door with clearance and duties included. Containers are planned by unit count and carton size, fridges and freezers stand upright, and we check SONCAP before booking.

  • Fridges and freezers must not be turned upside down; mark which way up they load.
  • State the refrigerant type for air conditioners.
  • Declare each model and unit count separately.

  • Door-to-door shipping to Nigeria

Shipping, customs, duties and delivery in Nigeria, in one price.

  • Nigeria import documents

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

Upside down or on their side

Shipping fridges and freezers upside down harms the compressor. Orientation marks on the carton must be clear, and loading follows them.

  2. Item 02

    Damaged cartons

Damaged outer cartons make large appliances harder to sell on arrival. Use enough pallets and corner guards.

  3. Item 03

    Fridges laid down

Shipped on their side, compressor oil runs into the pipes. The fridge cannot be switched on straight away and can be ruined.

  4. Item 04

    Wrong voltage or plug

Nigeria's grid runs at 50 Hz and mostly uses UK-style (BS 1363) plugs. Products that don't match are harder to sell.
