Short answer

Updated: August 2026

How do I ship powders from China to Nigeria?

Powders go by sea in a full container, door to door with clearance and duties included. Provide an MSDS and assessment report, palletise and stretch-wrap the bags, and declare by chemical name and composition.

  • Powders usually need an assessment of whether they are dangerous goods.
  • Declare by chemical name and state the use.
  • Bagged powders must be protected against damp and tearing.

  • Door-to-door shipping to Nigeria

Shipping, customs, duties and delivery in Nigeria, in one price.

  • Nigeria import documents

Nigeria requires products on its mandatory lists to be certified before export, and the certificate must be presented at clearance. We check this before booking, so the risk does not surface when the cargo reaches port.

Risk alert

Common risks

Where this cargo most often gets held up. We check each point before it ships.

  1. Item 01

    Torn bags and spills

Spilt powder contaminates the whole container and can trigger inspection and cleaning charges.

  2. Item 02

    Use not explained

White powders with no stated use are inspected closely. State the use when declaring.

  3. Item 03

    No MSDS

Without an MSDS the hazard class can’t be determined, so the goods can’t be booked. If you don’t have one, send us the composition and we’ll help with a first assessment.

  4. Item 04

    Powders declared as general cargo

Powders and liquids declared as general cargo and then inspected lead to confiscation and long port delays.

Shipping powders to Nigeria: FAQ

Why do powders need an assessment?

The hazard of a powder has to be confirmed by assessment. Powders assessed as non-hazardous can be booked as general cargo.

Can powders go in a shared container?

Powders with complete documents and sturdy packing can be assessed for sharing; for large volumes, a full container is recommended.

How do I know whether my chemical is dangerous goods?

Look at the UN number and hazard class in the MSDS. If you don’t have an MSDS, send us the composition and we’ll help with a first assessment.

Not sure which documents you need? See the clearance document checklist or send us your product names.
